Description
Lory is a robust multipurpose device for use in industrial and sport rope access and climbing applications. Its functionality spans the range from rope descender and abseiling device through semi- automatic belay and fall-arrest device to rope shortening device for use on roofs and edges. Two sub-types of the device exist: with unimpeded movement of the cam (for industrial use) and with impeded movement of the cam (for sport use). By pulling onto the working end of the rope the cam engages and jams the rope. By pulling the lever the cam gradually releases the rope. If the lever is pulled down to its terminal position the double-stop function is triggered which blocks the rope again.
- Handles a much wider range of rope diameters from 9mm – 11.4mm – thereby providing a safe autobelay alternative for the new generation of skinny sport ropes
- If the release handle is pulled too hard the unit locks; making it almost impossible to drop someone while lowering them. The unit only lowers if the handle is kept in a mid range position - which also makes abseiling much safer.
- The cam can be pushed into a “locked” position at any stage, which enables the belayer to easily safe guard the leader when he’s resting without having to keep a hand on the rope at all times (although this is advisable)
- Belaying is easily & best done with both hands on the rope, rather than one hand on the device - a practice which has resulted in numerous accidents with the Petzl Grigri
